Teeth got done!

Post from Ellen:  Fab Four from the Shore (Cape May Horses) got their teeth floated today. Butch said they were the worst teeth he had ever seen. He showed me that in the back, some of their teeth were pointed like needles and were three inches long !! The backs of their mouths were like ground up hamburger with sores on top of sores. He said they will feel better in about two days- they got warm mash tonight !!

Izzy

Here is a letter from Carrie...Izzy's new owner.

"Here are a few shots of Donald and I w/ Izzy (Isadorable :) and Whinny her new best friend. Even though there are 4 other full sized horses in our herd Whinny was lonely without a friend her own size. She just didn't connect with the 'big guys'... She had a good friend Grace, a small Paso Fino, but she moved away last summer and just Whinny didn't thrive this winter as she had in the past... I really didn't put it together till about a week after I'd met Izzy while trimming her feet (and kinda fell for her... ;). It came as a 'download' that Whinny needed a friend her own size and that Izzy's 'The One'. Well a couple weeks went by before we got totally clear on it and I went to pick up the Iz, and in the mean time I was letting Whinny know that she was on her way... What a sight when it was when Izzy arrived!!!  My friend Terry who with her husband Roger owns the farm where our collective herd lives had separated the 'big guys' and had Whinny in a small paddock near the barn waiting for the new arrivial. Well when Whinny saw another mini she went wild - leaping, running and squealing with joy! Terry got a hold of her and had her hands full as I brought Izzy in. Izzy was sooo cool. She came in and just trotted around very confidently as Whinny cavorted and twirled around her. This went on for a few minutes as they introduced themselves, and then Whinny (who is very vocal and loving) left Izzy and came to Terry and I chortling and chuckling, looking for rubs and just expressing her gratitude in the clearest, sweetest way... It brought tears to my eyes then and is again as I write (I am such a sap... thank God ;)! Izzy's been here a little over a week now and they are quite the 'item', she's also a joy to us humans. What a personality! I didn't think we'd find a second one as much of a pistol as Whinny, but they are peas in a pod. Better than TV!
Thank you guys so much for your wonderful work. We are so grateful to have Izzy in our lives!
Many Blessings,
Carrie"

NEWS FROM The Chiropractor

Fleck (from Cape May) definitely has an untreated and severe back injury- he probably flipped over at some time. The muscles have healed over it, and he is going to take a lot of work to get better. After his treatment, he moved more easily, and he decided that even though it hurt, he loves Dr Buzby-Cope. We filmed it all.

Here is Kate today.  She is doing well and loving life!  Her friend, Matlida, the molly mule, is behind her.
Here is Kate soon after she arrived at the rescue...this was taken on April 10, 2010.  She was a race horse (Dr. Barb P) and a broodmare.  She was diagnosed with EPM in August/September 2010 and at times it didn't look like she was going to make it...especially because she is 19 years old.
